Boy Scout

Troop 100

Minutes

March, 2006

A regularly scheduled meeting of the BSA Troop 100 Committee was called to order at 7:32 p.m. on March 8, 2006 by Committee Chair Art Silverman at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The minutes from the February 1, 2006 meeting were read and approved. In attendance were Art Silverman, Alan Rey, Lisa Hoke, John Le Mon, Ed Barber, John Cates, Gloria Robles, Leila Merzouk, Harvey Newman, and Amy Wooden.

Scoutmaster’s Report:

John Le Mon gave the Scoutmaster’s report.

1) The PLC campout was successful. The scouts had a wonderful hike down to the Potomac River at Lock #9 from the farm house where they were staying.

2) The Board of Review went well, with Nicholas Francisi and Jourdan Wooden being passed for their Tenderfoot. They will both receive them tonight.

3) We still do not have a confirmation on the room for the Anniversary Dinner on the 18th. John hopes to have this by tomorrow, March 9, from the church secretary.

4) This weekend the Troop will be camping in Quantico. Almost everyone is planning to attend. At this point, only one camp has given a definite “No.”

5) Several people will be involved in setting up the refreshments for the dinner, as part of the Hospitality Committee.

6) Goshen deposits were due two weeks ago, and only one has been received, so far. This is Goshen’s 40th anniversary, with all sorts of special logos, etc.

7) John is still trying to find a location for the April trip on the 22nd. Right now, he’s focusing on Broadcreek and working with them to reserve a cabin.

8) Franklin Graham, Bill Graham’s son, will be the speaker at the Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on April 16. There will be no meeting on the 12th, due to the public schools’ spring breaks.

9) The Troop will not be going to Westpoint this year, as Bradlee Hutchison will not be able to sponsor the Troop there this year. This leaves the time open for canoeing or biking.

Treasurer's Report

Don Francis, Treasurer, was absent, so no report was given

Other Business

The covers for the Council Fire will be printed by Ralph Wooden. Harvey expressed a concern about the quality of the images being printed in the Council Fire. Art assured us he will be using better quality images this year. Lisa will produce the ads this weekend.

Lisa Hoke reported that the Council Fire revenue is on track for this year, with the Troop’s generous donors coming through for us. The Committee has decided to print 100 copies of the final volume but ask for 125 sets of the covers, in case we need to print a few extra copies during the year.

John discussed having a “Merit Badge” day at the PLC. The district one in March will most likely not happen, so the PLC is thinking it might work to have parents go on the Patuxent Campout and make the focus of that trip working on Merit Badges.

Amy Wooden,

Committee Sectretary

The meeting was adjourned at 8:23 p.m.
