Scoutmaster’s Report:
.
1) The Pack/Troop Picnic in June was well-attended and lots of fun.
2) Goshen went well. The Troop went down on Saturday, one day early. Sad to say, the GR (Goshen Restaurant) is closed after many, many years of providing the Troop with meals on the way to camp. John went to the Scoutmaster’s dinner with the Council Scouting Executive to discuss the Council plans for the Camp. Goshen may offer a 7-day option for camping next year. The Camping Executive came to dinner with the Troop on Wednesday and enjoyed the experience. As a result of the week at camp, a minor reshuffle has been done with the patrols.
3) The first campout of the year will be the last weekend of September at Gettysburg. The next few meetings will include information on the battle there, in order to prepare the Scouts for the trip.
4) The draft Troop calendar has been sent out. Scouts and parents alike should review it for potential conflicts with school and other schedules. Please notify John Le Mon of any significant conflicts.
5) When Scouts will be selling Pancake Breakfast tickets during meetings in October, parents will be need to drive Scouts to their sales locations.
6) The October campout will be the Banneker District Camporee. The theme will be “Leave No Trace”, and it will be a three-day trip.
7) November’s campout is the Appalachian Trail trip. The Troop will leave around 4:00 to catch the 5:00 train from Rockville. Parents will be needed to pick up the Scouts and leaders in West Virginia and bring everyone back.
8) A Scouter from Spain visited the meeting and the Scouts really enjoyed hearing about Scouting in another country.
9) October 10th is the Scouting For Food Collection. The Troop will be manning the collection point.
10) The next Board of Review is October 1. Four scouts are up for Tenderfoot and one for Second class.
Kip Gregory suggested setting up a listerve to enhance the communication between and among adults in the Troop. |
