Scoutmaster’s Report:
1) Goshen Scout Camp fifteen boys, two leaders, and several parents attended Camp Marriott this summer. At least one merit badge was earned by each boy attending. Eight boys and two adults attended Len Hok’ Sin. Group photos from Len Hok’ Sin are available. Group photos from Camp Marriott will be available soon. Please contact either John Le Mon or John Cates for photos. Goshen was “a positive experience all around.”
2) John Cates has appendicitis, but is otherwise doing fine.
3) The Eagle Court honoring Jake Hoke and Thomas Silverman went beautifully.
4) A Board of Review was held for Michael Newman, and he passed. His application has been forwarded to National for approval.
5) The first scheduled campout of the year is October 15-16 at Sugarloaf.
6) Both John Le Mon and John Cates met with leaders from Troop and Pack 61 and Troop 666 to discuss recruitment issues the units share. Plans are being made for a major recruitment effort in the near future.
7) John Le Mon took eight scouts and two leaders to the National Jamboree at Fort A. P. Hill in Virginia over the summer, where they were able to visit with Matt Bond and some European Scouts with him.
8) John Le Mon passed out the Troop calendar for the 2005-2006 Scouting year. Boards of Review are now scheduled on the calendar, in order to assist Scouts, leaders, and parents in planning for these events. September 25, 2005 is the Montgomery County Alzheimer’s Walk. The Pancake Breakfast will be on October 29, 2005, pending final arrangements. The Christmas Tree Sale is scheduled for December 10, though the location is under discussion, with either the “old” River Road site or the Troop 666 site being considered, as well as the site used at St. Ann’s last year. A trip to Philmont is being planned for either the summer of 2006 or the summer of 2007, depending on the luck of the draw at registration time this year. |
