Boy Scout

Troop 100

Minutes

September, 2006

A regularly scheduled meeting of the BSA Troop 100 Committee was called to order at 7:38 p.m. on September 12, 2006 by Committee Chair Art Silverman at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. In attendance were Art Silverman, Lisa Hoke, Barry Wood, Don Francis, Steve Kunk, Ralph Wooden, John Le Mon, Annie Noel, Amy Wooden, and John Cates

Scoutmaster’s Report:

John Le Mon gave the Scoutmaster’s Report

1. The new Soft Room is finished and the Quartermaster’s Room needs
shelving to hold the Troop equipment. $257.80 (not including plywood need for shelves). Motion carried.

2. Pancake Breakfast: John is trying to schedule this date and the
Anniversary dinner date with the church, but has not heard back.

3. Campout is scheduled for the the last weekend in September,
hopefully at Izaak Walton, but John hasn’t heard back. If he hasn’t heard from them soon, the Troop will not be allowed to go, as the Council requires a two-week advance on the signed permit application.

4. October 13-15 is the District Camporee.

5. Chris Gagliono, Scoutmaster of Troop 61, has been talking with
John about doing joint campouts. He only has 4-5 scouts, so John isn’t sure how much this will happen.

6. Kevin Bridwell is back as Scoutmaster of Troop 666, so John is
thinking that may also provide the opportunity for joint campouts.

7. As soon as John has the dates confirmed by the church office,
he’ll send the new calendar out. He’ll also update the roster and send that out.

8,. There have been some changes to rank requirements. For First
Class, Scouts now have to try to recruit a Scout and get someone to come to a meeting.

9. The District is asking for a $5 contribution for each Eagle Scout
from 1990 through 2006 to produce a recognition plaque at the Reed Center (located at 14th and U) to go along with the existing plaques recognizing Eagles from 1960 through 1990.

10. Packs 61 and 100 are having two events, one Sunday and one
Monday, which all scouts First Class and above should attend to meet their requirements.

11. Hike-O-Ree will be November 3-5. Registration is only online
after September 15. All First Class Scouts and above could, and should, attend. It’s a lot of fun, according to past participants.

12. The Troop has received a certificate of appreciation from Walter
Reed Army Medical Hospital thanking the Troop for its assistance at the Easter Sunrise Service.

Treasurer's Report

Treasurer’s Report: Total: $10,265 in a checking and money market
account. These accounts have accrued $256 since November, 2005.
Dues have been set at $120 for years, the Scoutmaster has requested we consider a small ($5 or $10) increase for the 2006-2007 Scouting year. A motion was made to increase the dues to $130, and it was approved. In addition, the Troop should be saving funds for future High Adventure trips.

The proposed slate of officers was approved as proposed.

Ralph announced that on September 30 both Den Leader and Scout Leader training will be available. This training is also appropriate for Committee members. Other dates and times are also available, and we may be able to get someone to come present at a Committee Meeting to train the committee.

Steve Kunk gave a presentation he put together to show the experience the Troop had on their High Adventure trip this summer to the Adirondacks. It was generally agreed the presentation is absolutely beautiful, and we may well continue to make these types of presentations to help promote the Troop and Scouting.

Amy Wooden,

Committee Sectretary

The meeting was adjourned at 8:47 p.m.
