Boy Scout Troop 100
Minutes February, 2007

A regularly scheduled meeting of the BSA Troop 100 Committee was called to order at 7:38 p.m. on February 7, 2007 by Committee Chair Art Silverman at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. In attendance were Art Silverman, Gloria Robles, Lisa Hoke, Ralph Wooden, Mike McCarthy, John Le Mon, Steve Kunk, and Amy Wooden.

Scoutmaster’s Report:

John Le Mon gave the Scoutmaster’s Report

1. The Marsh’s Farm trip was a success despite the lack of snow. The kids had a great time and almost everyone attended.

2. Scout Sunday will be observed at Palisades Community Church on March 11.

3. The PLC weekend is coming up. The trip will be at a new place, originally designed by John Hoke 20 years ago, near Old Rag.

4. Goshen payments are due February 21, and it’s exactly $300. Camperships are, as always, available. The trip is July1-7, Sunday to Saturday, so we need to load up the trailer on Saturday to avoid any conflict with church services.

5. There will be nine merit badges presented at the Court of Honor tonight.

6. Stories for the Council Fire are due next Wednesday. We will be printing 100 copies.

7. We have been invited to the WestPoint Camporee May, which is the 4th-6th. Manuel Robles has been accepted to WestPoint.

8. Next month’s campout is March 17-18.

9. The Annual dinner is March 24th.

10. We have again been invited to assist with the Walter Reed Army Medical Center Easter sunrise service on April 8th.

11. The Mini Page of the Washington Post did a nice feature congratulating the Boy Scouts on 100 years of Scouting.

12. Next week, the Order of the Arrow will have representatives at the Troop meeting to elect new members into the OA.

13. The Appalachian Trail trip was well-attended and the kids had a lot of fun. MARC offers half-price tickets for large groups, if purchased in advance. Scouts got to share the trail with 1500 Ultra-Marathon runners.

14. Two boys passed their Board of Reviews last night, so there will be a Court of Honor this evening.

15. Calendar updates include: next week’s meeting will be a regular meeting, as no place for caroling has been located; the event on the 15th-16th may not happen; the following week is the holiday party.

16. Philmont will happen starting July 7, 2009. This is a firm date for a 12-day trek with a reservation for 16 boys and 4 adults. Woohoo!

Treasurer's Report:

Don Francis indicated the Troop is in a strong financial condition.

Other Business:

Ralph mentioned the Boy Scouts are going to have available a special series of awards to celebrate the centennial of Scouting in America. He also passed out information on The University of Scouting, which is an opportunity for all parents and leaders to learn more about Scouting. He also talked about the leadership training programs at Philmont.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 p.m.
