Committe Meeting for March, 2009
Troop 100 Committee Meeting Minutes
Wednesday March 4, 2009
Scoutmaster John Le Mon made the following report:
1. He has priced vans for the Philmont trip at $2,000 for the three week the troop is in the Southwest. We will need two of them. He has not yet booked an airline. Plans call for the troop to fly to Denver and meet up with former Scoutmaster Dave Hutchinson.
2. One less scout will be going to Goshen than expected due to school commitments.
3. The upcoming Parent-Son Campout at Broad Creek pack will make use of a different, more modern cabin. It has better bath facilities and a shower. Mothers will get priority use of those facilities. It is located next to the pavilion where the trading post is. There may be up to 40 people on this trip.
4. The West Point Trip (May 1-3) will have two fewer boys going. The troop will need to rent a second van to supplement John’s own for the trip.
5. Some Scoutmasters will attend the Philmont Wilderness First Aid session resulting in no April campout. However, the DC District Camp-o_ree April 17-19 might be an option. We await more information.
6. The March campout will be on the either the Appalachian Trail or the Catocin Trail (near Marsh’s Farm)
7. The PLC weekend in February went well. Dave Hutchinson did a session there after driving 500 miles without speeding.
Lisa Hoke was not present to tell us about progress on ads for the Council Fire, but we learn that last weekend she sent out a letter to former advertisers and former scouts asking for support. We are asking alumni scouts to publish paid “memory ads”. Every parent present was asked to solicit two advertisements for the publication and copies of the forms will be sent to other parents by email.
Steve Kunk says the Troop website www.centurytroop.org will be updated and revised soon. Parents have noticed that it hasn’t been updated since January. Steve will announce when the new version is up and running.
Our treasury has collected a few more payments from scouts for Philmont and Goshen. John Le Mon says he’s sent the Philmont payment on to the ranch.
