Scoutmaster Report
· Last month’s trip to Quantico – lots of fun, spectacular weather. Only negative – lots of boys (and John Cates) came home with what is believed to be bug bites (chiggers ?).
· District Camporee – weekend of October 23-25. Depart St Ann’s on 10/23 between 4 and 5 and return on 10/25 around 1:00.
· Eagle Project Reports. Scott Hoke and Alex Francisi worked last weekend on their Eagle Projects. Many scouts helped Scott on his project at Thompson’s Boat House – cleaning out an area where the C&O Canal, Rock Creek and the Potomac all join. The boys removed bicycles, mattresses, and LOTS of trash and debris from the area. The boys that volunteered will get patches from the NPS. Alex has designed and is building shelving units for the senior citizens that visit Iona House for activities. Fewer scouts volunteered for this project because a certain level of skill and maturity was required. John was pleased with the progress on both projects.
· Pancake Breakfast.
o Will be held on Saturday, October 31. Boys will probably need to start arriving early – 6:00 AM – for set up because a dance is being held in the gym on Friday evening. Cooking will begin at around 7:30.
o Boys will be selling tickets during their Wednesday night meetings in October and possibly on Saturdays outside Safeway.
o Amy will try to get pumpkins that can be sold.
o Judy will ask Johnsons for a donation of mums.
o There was some discussion about considering moving the breakfast to a Sunday in the future in order to try to capture some of the people that attend Mass at St Ann’s. This is something we should consider for next year.
· Christmas Tree Sale – Saturday, December 12, 2009 (and 13th if necessary)
Amy Wooden is organizing the sale. We will increase our order from 100 to 115 this year. Amy will have coupons and flyers available for the breakfast and will once again post information on list serves, etc.
