May Committee Meeting Highlights

West Point

Scoutmaster John Le Mon reported Troop 100 won a Third Place in the "Grenade Toss" competition (don't try this at home). He detailed the hike in and the long drive up and back from Washington, DC.  We learned that the presence of Girl Scouts at the West Point event led our boys down that long, sinister path  where all young men wander when Girl Scouts are on the scene: Girl Scout Cookies.  Lets just say money was exchanged.

Parent-Son Campout

This annual event takes place May 30-31 at Broadcreek Scout Reservation north of Baltimore.  It officially starts at Saturday with lunch, but folks are welcome the evening before.  We were reminded that the cabins are clean and have indoor bathroom facilities.

Other Troops

While Troop 100 seems to be bursting with Scouts, two neighboring Troops are finding their ranks dwindling. Scoutmasters are planning to talk about ways ot assist each other and perhaps have group campouts.

Friends of Scouting

Ralph Wooden spoke about the importance of supporting the local BSA Council.

District Dinner

Friday, May 8 at the Reeves Building. Our Troop reserved a table for eight.

Wilderness First Aid

Two adult leaders and six scouts completed this vital course in preparation for summer at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Next Committee Meeting

It's the first Wednesday in June and the last meeting before summer break. That means Troop Committee Officers and other service positions for the following year need to be chosen.  We hope every spot can be filled by someone who has NOT previously served.
